WEEK 1

Wednesday, January 14th, 2026

Hi, I'm Michelle.

Today, I'm starting something new that I haven't done before, and I'm really excited to begin. I'm sure this semester will be full of things to learn, practice, and lots of fun. 

Yesterday in class, we saw some combinations of word phrases we can use when we express ourselves. Let me show you, through five sentences, how to use some of them. 

1. When I was four years old, I faced my greatest fear of talking in front of all my classmates.

2. My sister is one of the funniest people I know. She has a great sense of humor.

3. I take pride in my origami skills because they showcase my creativity and discipline.

4. I won a medal in my last competition.

5. Since I started my major at the Faculty of Languages, I have set myself the goal to obtain a B1 or B2 certification in French.

Thursday, January 15th, 2026.

Hello, I’m back. Today I have to write two posts because yesterday I forgot to write about my day—I can’t believe it happened. So here we go. Let’s jump right into it 😉.

Yesterday in class, we practiced the word combinations I showed you before and how to use them in the sentences above. Then, the teacher introduced a classmate who is doing his social service with Miss Dalila and who is going to help us during class. After that, we played a 26 questions Kahoot to review the tenses we use to express ourselves. Time flew by, and I didn’t even notice when the class ended. 

I left the classroom and went to the main patio with my friends to talk. I had a great time talking with them, especially with my friend Yadhi. We stayed on campus until four o’clock. It was crazy because we didn’t realize how much time had passed. Finally, we said goodbye to each other.

So far, this semester is going well. I’m getting to know my professors better each day, and I think I made a great choice. I want to achieve all the goals I set for myself this semester.

Thursday, January 15th, 2026.

Let me tell you that today I feel very happy. Every day, I become more convinced of three things. First, I have two of the best friends I could ever ask for. Second, I love studying music alongside my main major. And finally, I am extremely excited about my literature translation classes, which I truly enjoy. I wish we had more translation classes in all major languages, but unfortunately, that is not the case. However, by the end of this semester, I am thinking about looking for a job in this area to practice translation and gain experience in the field. 

To conclude today’s post, I want to share that I went to the cinema with my friend Yadhi. We watched my favorite Studio Ghibli movie, Howl’s Moving Castle. I’ve seen this movie about six times, and I cry every single time 😭. I really love it 🩷.

Friday, January 16th, 2026.

Hey, I’m back with another daily update 😊. Today, it was a great day because I woke up at 7 am. That's the reason why I love Fridays. Yeiii!!!! Because the rest of the week I wake up at 5:50 so I can get to school on time. Today it was really windy and cold. And that concerns me a little, because I heard that this Sunday is going to be the coldest day ☃ of the month. So let's see how it goes. 

My first class of the day started at 9:00, and it went well. However, there is something that has been bothering me 😩. I don’t know which school I should choose to apply exams and exercises to children or teenagers who are learning English at different levels. I will be creating these materials during the semester in my Language Learning Assessment class. I know I still have time to decide, but not knowing where I want to go and dealing with small decisions like this makes everything feel more complicated. I’m going to try to relax  🍃 so I don’t feel confused or pressured about it.

So far today, I’ve noticed that I’ve talked to more people at school than I thought. This is really good, but I didn’t realize it until today, and it made me feel proud of myself 😆. One of my goals before starting this major was to become more talkative and make more friends, especially since I’m in another state where I don’t know anyone and don’t have any family members nearby.

I hope I can keep their friendship for the rest of my life 💖.
