WEEK 4

 Monday, February 2nd, 2026.

Welcome back to this blog! I hope you’re doing well. As I mentioned in the last post, we don’t have classes today, and right now I’m traveling 🚌. Yes! I’m traveling.

I feel a little nostalgic because I’m leaving my home in Oaxaca. It’s funny, because for half of the trip I feel sad, knowing that I won’t be able to see my family for a couple of months. But during the other half, I feel excited because I have great friends in Puebla whom I care about so much 💗.

These are the two sides of studying outside your state, but it’s something I had wished for since I was 11 years old 😄.

Until the next adventure 😋.

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026.

Hi. Today was a nice day; it wasn’t too hot or too cool. Just perfect 👌. I woke up a bit earlier so I could be outside the classroom five minutes before my first class, which starts at 7. I did this because I needed to print homework for my translation class, which is my second class, and I don’t like doing that only five minutes before class. So, I did it earlier.

Today, with Miss Dalila, we studied the expressions treat yourself to, come up with, charge for, depend on, make the most of, take advantage of, have an effect on, suggest a price for something, rely on, pay a fair price for, play an important role in, and invest in. These expressions are used to discuss value and how we measure it. I already knew most of them, but I also learned some new ones, which was great because now I have more vocabulary to use when I want to express an idea. I’m going to practice them so I can really acquire them for life.

To reinforce the meaning of these expressions, we practiced by playing Kahoot. I wanted to be on the podium, but I couldn’t because in two questions I chose the wrong color. But no big deal, next time, I know I’ll make it to the podium.

That day, we also reviewed how to modify comparisons using words like a little or a bit to show a small difference with comparative adjectives; a whole lot or much to show a big difference with comparative adjectives; almost or nearly to show a small difference using an as…as comparison; nowhere near to show a big difference using an as…as comparison; and by far to show a big difference using superlative adjectives. We gave examples such as BUAP is more expensive than UNAM, and Tec de Monterrey is much more expensive than BUAP, and so on.

Then, with Angela and Gerardo, we practiced how to apologize, and we also practiced the /s/ sound.

Until the next shared moment of this journey 😉.

Wednesday, February 4th, 2026.

Here I am again. Sorry for the low energy 😞. Today, I didn’t feel well. I woke up very early, but I started to feel bad. I prepared my things for my 7 a.m. class, but in the end I felt worse. I took a nap, and an hour later I felt very cold and realized I had a fever 😷.

I took a hot shower and some medicine. I wanted to go to my Target Language class, but I couldn’t. The rest of the day was just for resting.

Until tomorrow.

Thursday, February 5th, 2026.

Hey there! So glad you’re here! Today, the weather played a trick on me. I thought it wouldn’t be cold, so I took a light jacket, the worst mistake ever. The weather was very cloudy ☁ and windy 🍃 at the same time, and I was freezing . All day, I kept regretting not taking my warm sweater 😔. I knew I should have taken it, but I thought twice and didn’t.

My friends and I chatted while we were changing classrooms, and I really enjoy talking with them a lot 💜.

Today, in my Target Language class, we helped with a micro-teaching. The student who did it talked about product reviews. After her class, we had class with Angela, and we practiced some expressions we can use in debates. I wish that class had been longer because we didn’t have enough time. I hope next time we organize a debate in class, we can do it for a little longer and cover more topics. I really like debates 😊.

P.D. Did you know that for some Mexicans it’s controversial to say that Tlaxcala betrayed Mexico when the Spanish conquered it, while others think the opposite?

Until the next entry.
